FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I DROP OFF RECYCLABLE MATERIAL?
Load materials in a truck, bed or back of your car
Park + pay
If you have a trailer, pull up in the drop off yard and park so you don't block the people coming in behind you
Unload your material and be on your way
DO I HAVE TO SEPERATE MATERIALS BEFOREHAND?
If you have mixed materials the cost will be more.
For example, brush with concrete is more expensive than a dirt or concrete alone.
At a higher cost you can drop it off because we will do the separating. If you'd like to save a bit of money you can do this at home before you come in, and this courtesy is appreciated by our yard staff.

WHAT VEHICLE WORKS BEST?
Dump trucks are quickest for unloading.
We also have our drop-box containers available so you don't have to unload any of the material yourself. Learn more here.
If you don't have a dump truck many customers rent trucks from Handy Andy's or U-haul.
Another option is loading buckets or other containers and bringing them in with your car.
WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?
Make sure to bring gloves, shoes that can get dirty, a shovel and a friend to help you unload material. A broom is great for easy cleanup.
WHAT IS A CUBIC YARD?:
A cubic yard is a measure of volume, not weight. It is equal to the volume of a cube that measures 3 feet on all sides. It is 27 cubic feet. Anytime you see the word "yards" at Dirt Exchange or in our materials, it means cubic yards.
Length times width times depth (ensuring you use feet and not inches) will give you the volume of a container in cubic feet. Divide that number by 27 to know how many cubic yards.
It measures the volume that material takes up as it is, not as it would be in smaller pieces or if your broken concrete were still in a solid slab.
EXAMPLE: You are going to remove a concrete sidewalk. It measures 4 feet by 10 feet and you think it's probably about 6 inches thick. So 4 x 10 x 1/2 = 20 cubic feet or about 3/4 of a cubic yard. But here's where it's easy to make a mistake. Once you break it up, it's going to take up more space than when it's all compact in sidewalk form. Pricing is based on the actual space your material occupies, air gaps and all in its broken chunks form the way you bring it in.
